For more than 25 years, attorney Eric L. Pines has been a trusted advocate for individuals who have seen their lives turned upside down by devastating personal injuries and difficult employment/labor law matters. As a founding partner at Pines & Goldenzweig, PLLC, he is committed to providing a strong voice for people who are at risk of being taken advantage of by large insurance companies. He knows the aggressive tactics that insurance companies use to minimize or even deny personal injury claims. Eric won’t let his clients be bullied. He takes a tough stand to demand the maximum compensation his clients need to move forward with their lives after serious accidents.
Eric is not the typical attorney that people expect, and Pines & Goldenzweig, PLLC, is not the typical personal injury law firm. Eric and his team take a compassionate, personalized approach to serving clients. He likes to get to know his clients, understand their needs, and really provide them with a sense of relief that their case is in good hands.
“I love helping people,” he says. “I enjoy seeing people smile when you show them that you are not a typical attorney but someone who cares about them as a person.”
A native of Los Angeles, Eric earned his bachelor’s in history from the University of California-Los Angeles in 1992. He went on to earn his J.D. from Loyola Law School-Los Angeles in 1995. After law school, he moved to Israel and studied Talmudic law for three years. It was during his time in Jerusalem that he met his future wife.
Before starting his own firm, Eric worked as an attorney for the United States District Court, Central District of California, and served as associate general counsel for AFGE Local 1923, the largest federal employee union in the country. He earned a reputation as a staunch defender of workers’ rights.
At Pines & Goldenzweig, PLLC, Eric continues to represent everyday people who find themselves facing off against powerful employers and deep-pocketed insurance companies. “That’s why I became a lawyer ─ to level the playing field for people who were put at an unfair disadvantage,” he says.
Eric is a current member of the State Bar of Texas and an inactive member of the State Bars of California and Maryland. He is also a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA).
Eric has earned a 10/10 rating on AVVO, a nationally respected legal review site. He also earned the AVVO Clients’ Choice Award in 2020 and 2016. He was recognized as one of Houston’s Top Lawyers by Houstonia Magazine in 2015. He has a perfect 5.0 peer-review rating from the highly regarded Martindale-Hubbell.
After living and working all across the country (and around the world), Eric is proud to call Texas home. Now a longtime resident of Houston, Eric and his wife raise their five children here. They are active members of the community. Eric serves as president of the Torah Girls Academy High School, a local religious high school. He also volunteers on several local boards.
In his spare time, he enjoys playing electric and classical guitar, with musical tastes that range from Zeppelin to Bach. He also enjoys playing ice hockey, running, biking, and working out.
